Katja Sonnemann

Katja Sonnemann works as a facilitator, consultant, trainer, lecturer, coach and producer. She is the initiator of the AKADEMIE für Performing Arts Producer of the Alliance of International Production Houses e.V. – an advanced training programme for producers in the independent performing arts – which she designed and conducted from 2018 to 2024. She has previously worked as a tour manager for Sasha Waltz & Guests, head of the artistic planning at Schaubühne and Gorki Theatre in Berlin, head of artistic production at Theatre of the World Festival 2005 in Stuttgart, as producer with Rimini Protokoll, company manager of andcompany&Co and as a guest professor at the HfS Ernst Busch. She is a founding member of the German producers’ network produktionsbande and a member of ietm, ITI and LAFT Berlin. Katja gives workshops and seminars in the field of performing arts, advises national and international artists and companies with a focus on production/distribution, forms of collaboration in teams, (international) cooperation, network building and moderates team working processes. She has a diploma in Applied Theatre Studies (JLU Gießen) and has trained in system change, coaching, counselling in organisations and feminist leadership. She lives in Berlin.
